IRIS Herefordshire Reception and Administration – Mop Up Training Session.

IRIS (Identification and Referral to Improve Safety)

Taking place online on the Learning Management System on the below dates. 

Thursday the 7th of November 12:00 - 13:00

Tuesday the 3rd of December 13:00 - 14:00

IRIS Training provides Domestic Violence Abuse (DVA) awareness for Reception and Admin staff who are the eyes and ears of the surgery. The training lasts for an hour and equates to 1 CPD point.

Please ensure that access to microphones and cameras are available throughout the session. Cameras are expected to be on throughout training. To confirm your attendance please complete the register, we will provide you with your certificate, once your surgery has been fully trained.

This session is for practice Reception and Administration staff, who were unable to attend the initial IRIS training, below is a list of surgeries that can attend this session.

Please note, if you are not employed by one of the above practices, unfortunately, you would not be able to join these sessions.

Speakers for the session:

IRIS Advocate Educator

Charmaine Cole (BA hons) has supported Vulnerable women for the past decade and has been in her latest role as IRIS Advocate Educator for Herefordshire since February 2024. Charmaine started working within this sector as a volunteer supporting vulnerable women to exit sex work in Coventry and has also provided Domestic abuse support for women offenders, women experiencing Domestic abuse and women living in refuge. Before working in Hereford, she was an IRIS AE in Dudley for 18 months where she was responsible for over 30 GP surgeries.

IRIS Clinical Lead

Sarah Petter Msc RN is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Much Birch GP Surgery and Clinical lead of the IRIS specialist primary care domestic violence and abuse (DVA) training and support referral programme. She has a background in Primary Care, Out of hours, Urgent and Emergency Care. She has a special interest in Domestic Abuse and was involved in the Bristol Domestic Abuse Forum, on Next Link Domestic Abuse Services Management Committee and set up an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate Services in University Hospital Bristol's Emergency Department in 2011 which is still running.
