Outstanding Practice Learning Environment Award:
CCG/Independent Sector: Winner – Sarum House Surgery, Herefordshire.
There was success for another Herefordshire practice in the ‘Outstanding Practice Learning Environment’ category. This award received nominations from organisations across both Worcestershire and Herefordshire CCGs and also the independent sector placements. The team at Sarum House surgery in Hereford won the award for providing a high quality learning environment for Physician Associate students on practice placement. Testament to the commitment of Sarum House staff who supported the student’s learning included the following extract:
“Every Member of the staff was eager to help in any way possible. The GPs and ANP were always eager to provide feedback when I was seeing my patients and always willing to include me in discussions about cases. The home visits were good learning opportunities to reflect on the difference between seeing patients in the practice. When shadowing the physio, I learnt a great deal about making an MSK examination slick. The nurses, HCAs and receptionists went the extra mile every day, they were always willing to make sure I was ok and know where I was every morning and were always there to help .The HCAs and nurses were always willing to lend equipment or see my patients for review short notice. Finally, every member of staff made me feel part of the team. In words hard to describe, I felt as if I had been working there for a year rather than a few weeks they were so welcoming “ ( Physician Associate student)Congratulations and thank you to all involved at Sarum House Surgery who contributed towards the creation of the outstanding practice learning environment.
